Troy A. Rutledge

Obituary

  was born to the parentage of the late Forest Rutledge, Sr. and the late Ola Mae Fitts Rutledge on October 22, 1963 in Wilton, Alabama.   

He was educated in the Shelby County School System.

He was baptized at an early age in Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wilton, AL, under the pastorate of Rev. Chism.  He later joined the Carlton Hill Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Charles Valentine.

Troy was a certified welder where he worked at Saginaw Pipe and Davis Machine.  He also did Carpentry and was an electrician helper.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Laverne Martin Rutledge in 1984 and to this union two daughters were born.

He enjoyed baseball and fishing.  He was a BIG Crimson Tide fan and greeted you with “Roll tide”.

Later in life he met a special friend and Partner, Linda McCarter.

He was preceded in death by three nephews, Robert, Roy and Kelvin; a host of uncles and aunts.

He departed this life on Sunday, April 7, 2019.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Alayna Yarbrough, Birmingham, AL and Princess Rutledge, Montevallo, AL; eleven brothers and sisters, Ida (Edward) Gales, Leonard (Rosemary) Rutledge, Forest (Yvonne) Rutledge, Jr., Anedia Jackson, Mary (Charles) Fulgham, Franklin (Shiann) Rutledge, Willie John Rutledge (Laquita), Johnny (Randy) Rutledge, Pearl (Chester) Jemison, Terry Rutledge, Freeman (Jackie) Rutledge; three god-siblings, Tony Fitts, Sherrie (Ronnie) Goode, Darlene (Curtis) Taylor; special niece, Roberta Stabler, four grandchildren, Anayla Yarbrough, Ronald Yarbrough and Ayannie Yarbrough, King Gilliland; one uncle, James Walker Fitts (Azzie); a special friend and partner, Linda McCarter; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who shall miss him dearly.

 A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Upper Room Church in Calera, AL with burial at Carton Hill Cemetery in Brierfield. Bishop Johnny Rutledge – Eulogist
