Wilbert Mims Alexander

Wilbert Mims Alexander II, also known as ‘Tinka’ or ‘Short’, was born on February 9, 1972 to Mr. Wilbert Mims and Mrs. Cora Edwards Alexander. Wilbert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. Mims Alexander, Mrs. Anna Mae Hayes and Mrs. Para Lee Edwards.

Tinka was baptized at the age of seven at Bethel Baptist Church, Dolomite, AL. At age ten, he started attending Faith Apostolic Church, Birmingham, AL, with his mother as a faithful Sunday School and young adult member.

Known to his classmates as “Short”, Tinka was an all-around athlete, great friend and shared many memories as a graduate of Shades Valley High School. Out of his many hobbies and passions, Tinka enjoyed motorcycle riding, auto racing and rebuilding antique cars with his father. As an avid sports fan there was no team he loved greater than the Florida State Seminoles—and he would let you know it! He connected with so many of those in the younger generation offering encouragement, inspiration and guidance. Tinka was, without a doubt, a wonderful soul.

Those left to cherish his fond memories are his parents, Mr. Wilbert and Mrs. Cora Alexander, his grandfather, Mr. Jimmy L. Edwards Sr. (Pop), his friend and love, Farrah Adams, his daughter, Brandi Barnette, his grandchildren of whom he raised, Christopher Dixon and Krista Barnette,

his brother, Jerrel Alexander and his sister, Patrice (Theo) Schaffer, his nephews, Jermaine Ballard and Theopelis ‘Xan’ Schaffer, his niece, Ryleigh Grace Schaffer, his godchildren, Lauren and Kaylen Oden and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a..m. at :
